19 April 2007: The Shawshank Redemption or Raquel Welch.....

One other thing I have to mention is that Michael received a "pin up poster" of a very young Raquel Welch in the mail a few days ago. There was nothing in the mailing tube which indicated who sent him the poster, though, and Mike would like to know who did send it. He said it's the same poster that was in the movie "The Shawshank Redemption" to cover the hole in the wall where they were digging out, and this image holds a lot of symbolism for him. He would love to know who sent it and if he is interpreting the gesture correctly! I told him I'd blog it and hopefully find out. Receiving the poster really meant a lot to him. WHO SENT MIKE THIS POSTER??

I heard of a wall of inspiration in Mike's room. I surmised it was assembled by his mom, sisters, daughters, nurses, girlfirnd, and perhaps a man (or two) who is in touch with his feelings. Envisioning a wall of rainbows, sunsets, inspirational phrases, and prayers the unfortunate SOB had to look at all day, I had to do something-and fast. With an abundance of loved ones praying for him, I decided to send him Rachel. Shawshank is one of my favorites. The truth is I missed the symbolism-I think. The poster in the movie was a pose from the movie "One Million Years B.C." Unfortunately I could not find the exact poster in Shawshank, so I sent another that I though was fiiiiiiine. Something nudged me toward a Raquel poster, although most would agree it does not take much of a push. Perhaps the symbolism existed but was buried and impacted me unknowingly. Get well Mike. See you soon.

Ah!! Steve? Steve Zetts? Mike saw the symbolism in the poster because he said Raquel Welch was the final poster before the break out and this represents Mike's goal of "freedom" or "reaching his destination".... well, this is Michael and he was very excited and got me excited about it but who can put the mind of Mike into actual words?! He'll be so happy to know who sent it to him and it definitely is his own "wall of inspiration" !!!!
