Finally completed a goal!

Monday, 6/30/08—Overload
Did the "bod-pod" with an upper body workout. Because the pod isn't compatible with the C-leg, I left it off all day (I can't remember the last time I did that).

Tuesday, 7/1/08 - Overload and "The 8 Mile Goal"
Walked 7 combo lap around the Pond (4.41 miles) after lunch, then drove to Columbus for a lower body workout.
The stump was feeling so good after a day off, I walked another 6 combo lap (3.78 miles). That took the total miles for the day to 8.19 and it only took 2.86 hrs (2.85 mph) to complete them. "Scratch one second year goal."

Wednesday, 7/2/08 - Drake wound care
Dr. Adkins examined the flare-up on my hip, the chronic front interior tear and the minor (I didn't know they were there until he told me) rim friction blisters. No infections. He gave me new clean and care instructions. He wants me to apply an iodine disinfectant and skin prep spray then flexible tape to protect the tear and blisters.

Wednesday night thru Sunday, 7/2-6/08 - Hess Lake
Bonnie and I stopped to visit Ruthie on the way. She is just too cute.
Bonnie, Ruth (Maine Dish), Jen, Tyler and I enjoyed the 4th at the lake. (click "read more"at the bottom of this item for more pics)

Very pregnant Ruthie called with the "I'm in labor and on my way to the hospital" Sunday morning at 3:00 am followed by the "never mind - just false labor" call at 4:00 am

pond outer loop (o-lap) = 1908 ft = .361 miles
pond inner loop (i-lap) = 1418 ft = .269 miles
combined loops (io-lap) = 3326 ft = .63 miles
Training goal - 8 miles in < 3 hrs (2.7 mph min.)

03-22-08 - 7 o-laps = 2.527 miles @ 2.7 mph
03-29-08 - 11 o-laps = 3.971 miles @ 2.8 mph
04-17-08 - 14 o-laps = 5.054 miles @ 2.9 mph
04-23-08 - 17 o-laps = 6.137 miles @ 2.9 mph

No distance walking until the new socket is ready. Wearing the leg is enough to open and aggravate the chronic tear. Will continue to wear the prosthetic (to keep the stump size stable) and try to keep distance to a minimum.

6-11-08 - got the temporary socket, walked .63 miles.
6-12-08 - 6 o-laps = 2.166 miles (didn't time it)
6-16-08 - 10 o-laps = 3.61 miles (didn't time it)
6-20-08 - 6 o-laps = 2.166 miles @ 2.6 mph
Another 6 o-laps = 2.166 miles @ 2.7 mph
4.332 miles total for the day
6-21-08 - 6 o-laps = 2.166 miles @ 2.7 mph
Another 6 o-laps = 2.166 miles @ 3.0 mph
4.332 miles total for the day
6-22-08 - Bike Trail = 4.37 miles @ 2.8 mph
6-27-08 - 2 io-laps = 1.26 miles (didn't time it)
6-28-08 - 4 io-laps = 2.52 miles (didn't time it)
6-29-08 - John Bryan Park = 2.2 miles (didn't time it).
Then - 4 io-laps = 2.52 miles @ 2.8 mph
4.72 miles total for the day
7-1-08 - 7 io-laps = 4.41 miles @ 2.9 mph
Another 6 io-laps = 3.78 miles @ 2.8 mph
***Total for the day = 8.19 miles @ 2.85 mph (2.866hrs)
